Our hearts go out to the communities affected by the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Helene. I spent six weeks at the Penland School of Crafts in the fall 2022, and I got to meet many of the talented and hardworking artists of Western North Carolina who have been devastated by this recent storm.  Many of these artists lost their homes, studios, inventories, kilns, and tools. And even for those artists who made it “unscathed“, they have lost their jobs during the most lucrative and productive time of the year. Many are still without power and water. Unfortunately, choosing a life as an artist comes with few safety nets.

We, as a community of artists in the Gulf South, know about these challenges all too well. We’ve come together and have each donated works of art for a raffle to help raise funds. Donations will be split equally between organizations such as CERF, Beeloved Ashville, and RAD (River Arts District).

Details for entry:

  • Raffle tickets will cost $10/each or $50 for 6 entries. Payments for tickets need to be made to HERE.
  • Comment and tag two other potential donors to our Instagram post to help spread the word.
  • You must purchase raffle tickets between Friday, October 11 and Friday October 25th.
  • We’ll randomly draw winners and announce online at 10am on Monday, October 28th.
  • The first place winner will select their favorite piece to take home, and it will be available for pickup at Rachael DePauw Pottery. The 2nd place winner will then have the next choice to select their desired object. Shipping, if needed on smaller works, will be available at the expense of the raffle winner for $20 extra.
  • View images of the donated works of art available to winners HERE. Details about each piece can be found HERE.
  • Winners have 2 hours to claim their chosen piece before moving onto the next raffle winner and their selection.
